“I Believe” poetry contest winners announced

Congratulations to the winners of the Columbia Faith & Values “I Believe” poetry contest!

We had 40 people – 33 adults and 7 youth – enter the contest, which meant our judges had some hard decisions to make. But eventually, we found three winners in each category.

We’ll be publishing one of those winning poems each day this week – click on the names and titles below to read those that are already posted, and check back later to read more.

Adult Division Winners

First Place: “I Believe,” by Timothy Carson
Second Place: “I Believe,” by Martha Eisenhour
Third Place: “I Believe so Many Things,” by Michellee Turnbough Hyden

Youth Division Winners

First Place: “God Will Guide Me,” by Brandon Kim
Second Place: “Depression,” by Isaac Young
Third Place: “I Believe,” by Kylie Ryan

Winning poems will be broadcast in upcoming broadcasts of the Columbia Faith & Values segment on KBIA 91.3 FM, which airs at about 5:20 p.m. every other Friday – this month, that’s March 14 and 28.

We’ll also be publishing the rest of the top 10 poems from the adult category on the site throughout the month of March.

Many thanks to all who participated!

And special thanks to the local businesses who donated prizes for our winners:
