Dr. Carrie Duncan from the Religious Studies Department at MU will give a presentation on “Theodotus and the Surprisingly Mysterious Origin of Synagogues” at Congregation Beth Shalom at 4 p.m. Sunday, February 10.
Dr. Duncan received an M.A. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University and an M.A. and PhD in Religious Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She specializes in ancient religions of the Mediterranean.
Her recent research has focused on women and leadership in the ancient Jewish Diaspora communities. She has taught Introduction to the Hebrew Bible at MU, and this semester she is teaching a course on the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Baby/child sitting will be available at Congretation Beth Shalom during the event.
