POLL: Do you pray before you eat when you’re out in public?

Poll:

  • Yes – just like I do at home
  • No – I make an exception when I'm out
  • I pray, but not out loud
  • It depends who I'm with
  • I don't ever pray before I eat

Some families pray before they eat as they gather around the table in their own homes. Some individuals make a habit of praying before meals even if dining home alone. But does eating out in a restaurant  or in another (non-religious) social setting change the pre-meal ritual?

  1. I “pray just like I do at home” is the closest to being right.

When I am at home, my personal volume knob is a bit higher, because I am Father, and it is not ever rude for me to be heard. At Arby’s the other night with #2 son, we prayed quietly like we talked quietly (about Unified Field Theory) so as to be polite. I am not praying to be seen praying, but I am not avoiding being noticed either.
