Columbia residents took a trip to ancient Jerusalem on Wednesday night when they entered the doors of Valley View Community Church.

The church began its third annual presentation of "The Lamb," a reenactment of a historical Passover celebration and the Last Supper.

The sanctuary was turned into the home of "Reuven," a Jewish man living in Jersualem around the time of Jesus' crucifixion. His extended family has come from surrounding towns for the annual Passover celebration.

But something was different this year. The upper room had been given to some strangers to use – another Rabbi and his followers. This Rabbi, as it turns out, is Jesus – and the dinnertime conversation downstairs takes a tense turn when Reuven's brothers begin talking about this teacher upstairs.

Some audience members participate in the show by sitting at the tables and partaking of the meal with Reuven and his brothers; all are invited to try some Passover food after the performance ends. 

Remaining performances are 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Valley View Community Church, 2900 Barberry Ave., in Columbia.  

The event is free and open to the public.
